He was listed as an attendee... If he's not longer going, then yeah, obviously there's something to that. But is that true, he's no longer going?
Not sure haven’t done a deep dive, but would be a bummer I really like Morel.

I like him, but not necessarily for the Cubs, and wouldn’t mind getting max value for him now. Like Soler or Starlin Castro

Do we think he's going to play 3rd or 1st?
Sounds like he's best suited for 1B, but they tried him out at 3rd.

I mean, definitely not going to be devastated and he's got value....just a fun player with some serious upside in that bat.
They probably should have held off even longer than they did on the Cubs since they're likely to add more players, but those first Busch numbers are pretty solid. They essentially project him as giving similar offensive numbers to Happ and Suzuki and slightly besting Bellinger (who isn't in the team projections but included on the list of players) in OPS+ and SLG.

They also have PCA with 116 hits. I was going to say something about him not yet having a hit, but it looks like he only got 14ABs with the walks. It felt like more when you're waiting for that first one.
This is cool

I don't trust that PCA will give us any offense. It isn't just that he didn't get a hit in a very small sample size, but he whiffed on every fastball down the middle of the plate. If you can't hit a straight fastball, you don't have a prayer against offspeed stuff. Hopefully he was just nervous about his first time in the ML and he'll figure things out.

Awesome.
Glad Shota had good weather while staking out in the suburbs
Did you guys watch the CubsCon hitters panel earlier? It was cool, and the very ending was Dansby Swanson:

"Before we get to next year, we have to re-sign Belli."

Giving Boras some unnecessary leverage, but hopefully it happens soon and no regertz

I doubt Dansby’s answer matters much at the negotiating table. Still I do think we have the best odds at re-signing Bellinger. That said, Boras is just going to wait things out into ST.
