Ugh... lots of them.

Only pitchers really concern me, especially Marmol.

I'm all for Fukudome playing in this thing, maybe it will help him get his shit together.

I actually enjoyed it last time it was played. I was watching the Dominican Republic play Puerto Rico while my daughter was being born last time. Truth is I was trying not to look down.

Will all the games be at odd times again? I think I may skip the whole thing again, though I have nothing but time now.

what bothers me is that some of our most important players are participating when they should be getting ready for the season. they're risking injury to participate in a meaningless series of games. i hate it.
they should be using amateurs or minor leaguers or college kids. it's not the games that bother me, it's the fact that important players are involved.

I actually like that the hitters get to play in "meaningful" games. They may not be meaningful to us but I guarantee you they are to them. I understand your point on the pitchers though.

Fukudome needs as much practice as he can get, everyone else needs to stay away.

but thats just it. the players do think it's meaningful, and thats why they could get hurt. plus, an added series of games may come back to bite them late in the summer when players start getting tired.

Amateurs, Prospects and College kids? That's why Olympic baseball sucked. No star players. Nothing to attract anyone. No one wants to see Josh Vitters facing Kei Igawa in the title game. No one would watch.
I love this tournament.
The team to watch is Canada, because they'll be overlooked. They're freaking loaded.
I hate my pretentious sounding username too.

They could get hurt in ST to though. They could get hurt anytime they take the field.
They don't play near enough games in the WBC to where it actually wears the players down later in the season. I don't believe that for a second.

thanks for the economy lesson. i'm well aware of why they want star players playing. i really don't give a shit if anyone watches. if soriano blows out his leg again, or dempster blows out his arm, or marmol takes a line drive off his face, ill be irate.
it's stupid to risk your star players for a series thats only motivated by revenue and nothing else.
oh, and fuck the canadien team. why would anyone give a shit?

i think the odds of players getting hurt in spring training are less. sure, it happens, but when players aren't playing balls out, not diving for balls they normally would, not pitching in pressure situations, not running balls out from base to base, theres a lot less chance of injury. just my opinion.

You are probably right. However I just believe that they can get hurt anytime they take the field.
