Cubs in WBC - Andy - 12-11-2008 Ugh... lots of them. From the Tribune. QUOTE Ramirez is expected to decline an invitation to play for the Dominican Republic in the World Baseball Classic. Sources said Ramirez likes to stay in his routine in the spring, and he probably would be a backup anyway if Alex Rodriguez starts at third for the Dominicans. … Among the Cubs expected to participate in the WBC are Soriano and Carlos Marmol (Dominican Republic), Geovany Soto (Puerto Rico), Fukudome (Japan), Dempster (Canada) and Lee (United States). Zambrano has not decided whether to play for Venezuela. Cubs in WBC - sleepyhead - 12-11-2008 QUOTE (Andy @ Dec 11 2008, 08:52 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Ugh... lots of them. Cubs in WBC - Jody - 12-11-2008 I'm all for Fukudome playing in this thing, maybe it will help him get his shit together. Cubs in WBC - veryzer - 12-11-2008 i hate this thing. Cubs in WBC - cigar - 12-11-2008 I actually enjoyed it last time it was played. I was watching the Dominican Republic play Puerto Rico while my daughter was being born last time. Truth is I was trying not to look down. Cubs in WBC - rok - 12-11-2008 Will all the games be at odd times again? I think I may skip the whole thing again, though I have nothing but time now. Cubs in WBC - cigar - 12-11-2008 I actually like that the hitters get to play in "meaningful" games. They may not be meaningful to us but I guarantee you they are to them. I understand your point on the pitchers though. Cubs in WBC - ruby23 - 12-11-2008 Fukudome needs as much practice as he can get, everyone else needs to stay away. That's why Olympic baseball sucked. No star players. Nothing to attract anyone. No one wants to see Josh Vitters facing Kei Igawa in the title game. No one would watch. I love this tournament. The team to watch is Canada, because they'll be overlooked. They're freaking loaded.
