Has Aaron Boone ever managed before?  What an odd choice.

 

Boone has not managed nor coached in MLB but has an extensive baseball pedigree including having a grandfather, father, brother who all played in majors along with Aaron's 12 years as player and years in media and support positions for teams. 

 

The hire supports a general theme of manager's position degrading importance and increasing importance of GM. Yankees only had one candidate with manager experience in their final 4 list of candidates.
