He's definitely their type of signing.

They're going to give him $325 million? The fuck?

Have no issue with Machado at the right price and years. No, Heyward hasn’t produced to expectations but Cubs don’t win 2016 series without his leadership.

He's had 3 really good seasons and 3.5 meh ones. He lacks plate discipline. Machado's value takes a big hit if he ends up a full-time SS, and his body type doesn't suggest that he can remain a middle IF long-term anyway. I'm not even going to get into the on-field antics. Doesn't seem like a solid investment and especially not the type of person you want to build a young team around.

He'll set a fine example for the young guys coming up.

I'd be thrilled if the Cubs signed Machado.

I suppose we need at least one douchebag at all times.

I'm still here.
This is not some silly theory that's unsupported and deserves being mocked by photos of Xena.

Quote:I'd be thrilled if the Cubs signed Machado. At what price though? I agree he would make almost any team better, but I wouldn't want to invest $300mm in him to be the cornerstone of our franchise for the next 8-10 years.

I don't know. I see the logic behind that but I'm all disgruntled reading about how much money the owners have and how little they're spending. Didn't Ricketts say that all profit is going back into the team?
