Appears that Gordon resigns with Royals
Fowler to Giants or Cards, coming soon? http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/145136...ity-royals

Hopefully that finally breaks the position player logjam, and is a good story on top of it. Plus, it keeps Gordon away from the Sox.
I definitely see a fit for San Fran and Fowler with Pagan always hurt and/or being a douche. Not sure he fits the Cards culture though, so hoping he stays away.

I thought playing in SF required you to have a scraggly beard and long greasy hair a la Razor Ramon? Don't think Fowler will be able to pull off that look.

This is not some silly theory that's unsupported and deserves being mocked by photos of Xena.

Sports Illustrated posted that judge denies Milton Bradley's request for a reduced jail term.
Since he thought Chicago felt like a prison to him, he should have no problem with this.

I had never seen a photo of Bowden until today. He truly is as dumb as he looks.

Span to the Giants for 3/31. That seems risky for a guy coming off a hip injury.
01-08-2016, 04:43 PM
Depends on his ability to return, Span is not attempting a Bo Jackson type comeback. Smoothing out torn labrum in hip joint - has become more common but procedure and results are not in line with returning from a torn meniscus (knee cartilage). Procedure should reduce his pain and increase range of motion. Believe that Denard was seeking $12-15 MM per year and 3-5 year contract. The contract is not a one year 'prove it' deal but it could be a good contract for the Giants even without him returning to 2014 form. Giants could also be stuck with 2 CFs who can't cover CF with Pagan and Span if their injury histories continue. Giants are taking a risk but they've seen his workouts and medical reports so it's an informed decision.

I heard today that he has had 3 hip procedures in the past 13 months. That seems more like a chronic problem to me. It's the Giants money so let them do what they want with it. I'm glad the Cubs didn't sign him to that deal.

Hadn't heard of 3 previous procedures on his hip. Span played 153, 147, and 61 games in 2013, 2014, 2015 and managed a near 800 OPS in 2015. Believe Span first complained of back pain in 2015 as the rationale for missing games, the back pain was most likely related to the hip issue that surgery may have alleviated.
Considering that one doesn't expect to see Boras' clients take less cash than they are worth, the signing is a red herring but if he's healthy, Span should be able to help the Giants. The Giants have placed a lot of faith in free agents getting or remaining healthy considering they also signed Cueto and Shark. http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/san-f...isk-010816

This probably takes the Nats out of the OF market now, even though Revere kinda sucks.
