Quote:Wonder how legit this HGH stuff is.
I watched the doc on Al Jazeera. The supposed physicians who were mic'ed up seemed to be dropping names of random athletes (Ryan Howard, Ryan Zimmerman and pretty much all of the Packers) just to get new customers. Didn't seem legit at all. That said, the Teagarden appearance on camera was pretty damning, as he pretty much catalogued his usage of PEDs. The Manning allegations seemed curious though, as it was light on proof and the connection to the clinic in Indy was loose at best. This Charlie Sly character also later admitted he was lying and the clinic he was associated with also threw him under the bus. It seems he was only an intern there. Wouldn't surprise me if some of the allegations are true, but it's hard to say with so many slimeballs involved.

Howard and Zimmerman are some random names to choose though. Assuming they have little knowledge of American sports (they were foreign physicians I presume?), you'd think they'd pick more well known names. Who knows.

They were mostly US and Canadian based pill pushers, but the investigation began with a doctor in Nassau, who led them to North America.

Sounds like the White Sox are one of the final suitors for Cespedes. Wouldn't be surprised to see his annoying face around these parts for the next several years.

I wouldn't be either. He's exactly their type of signing.

Yankees on the verge of acquiring Chapman? That was unexpected.

Done deal. The back end of their bullpen is nasty. Assuming Chapman isn't headed to the slammer...

Yeah...incredible how hot of a commodity he was up until a month ago. They really screwed the pooch not trading him at the deadline.

Strange they or any team would pull the trigger before the investigation is complete.

I agree. I don't know if there is anything in the CBA or any precedent for punishment, but, what if he's suspended for 25 games? Or 50? Manfred may want to send a message with him and Reyes.

If he doesn't get a lengthy suspension, their games just became 6 innings. That's the nastiest 7-8-9 since the Nasty Boys.

If he gets suspended, it could be long enough that his free agency gets pushed back a year. Plus it's not like the Yanks gave up a great crop to get him....
...however I wouldn't have gone anywhere near him until the investigation is complete.

I'm pretty sure I'd be thrilled if I were a NYY fan. And I'm a little sad that we didn't pony up some B level prospects for him.

After reading up on some of the prospects the Yanks gave up, Cotham and Renda are borderline garbage, and Davis hasn't shown much promise to speak of either. Jagielo seems to be the only interesting piece here. Honestly the fact the other teams weren't willing to top this package makes me wonder if the suspension will be much longer than expected.
That said, the Reds are flushing this offseason down the toilet with shitty trade after shitty trade.

Love the deal....I'm all for making the NL Central weaker while the Cubs are loading up. So far I don't see how the Cardinals, Brewers or Reds will be any better in 2016. Then again the Cardinals always seem to pull something out of their ass to be competitive.
I'll worry about the AL if we ever get to that bridge.
I just want to drink beer and play atari
