MLB News & Notes (other than Cubs or Sox)
Given their insistence that makeup is very high up on their priority list for players, it doesn't shock me in the least that this FO didn't want to touch him with a ten foot pole.

Set your DVR's. What's the over/under on Yaz references?

Quote:In a new documentary titled "Hawk: The Colorful Life of Ken Harrelson," MLB Network will dive deep into the life of the famed player-turned-bro who is celebrating his 50th year in Major League Baseball. Airing Thursday, July 18 at 6:00 p.m. CT, the hour-long documentary, narrated by Bob Costas, will feature Hawk telling stories of what Joe DiMaggio and Ted Williams thought of each others playing ability; his friendship with Mickey Mantle; meeting Hall of Fame NFL coach Vince Lombardi; and being encouraged to pursue professional golf by Jack Nicklaus, a press release on the film states. Hawk even explains why he never became a manager. "I turned down three managers jobs and that's the reason I turned them down: because my temper is not conducive to being a good manager at all," he said.

That sounds really, really compelling.

It's new?  I'm pretty sure I've seen on the cable guide for awhile now.  Either way, I'm sure its excellent.

You know, I think you're right. I do remember one of the networks aired a doc on him a while back, but then someone posted this on BBTF today. http://www.baseballthinkfactory.org/news..._harrelson

Kazmir to the Dodgers.

Interesting. Only a 3 year deal for Kazmir. Looks like the Dodgers really were serious about not handing out risky long-term deals to veterans past their prime.

Year of the opt out.

Wow, Dodgers really trying to squeeze water out of a rock. What a change of tune.

This is not some silly theory that's unsupported and deserves being mocked by photos of Xena.  [Image: ITgoyeg.png]

A solution could be an opt-out after 3 years, but they're insane if they think any of the big names will accept a simple short-term deal to play in that wasteland.

I hope the Cubs sign him for $1 less than the Sox' best offer.
