MLB News & Notes (other than Cubs or Sox)
White Sox appear to be attempting to corner the market for bullpen pitchers

They picked up Dan Jennings from the Marlins earlier today and appear in conversations to trade outfielder Viciedo to Mariners for additional bullpen arm.

The Mariners could put Cruz in LF and Viciedo in RF. That'd make for some mighty fine defense.

Good. I hope the White Sox spend big on middle relief.

Yes, God knows that always works out well.

White Sox to sign Melky Cabrera to a 3-year $45mil contract. Where are they getting this money? Fuck.

That's a really nice pickup. I didn't realize he had such a nice 2014. For 3/45, he would have looked awfully nice in our outfield/lineup.

Is nice the only adjective I know?

Shit's getting real and I don't like it.

Me neither.. Reinsdorf is pulling an Ilitch, wanting one last WS before he croaks, hence all the 2-3 year deals this offseason. While I also want us to go for it now, I don't want to mortgage the future either just to try to match what they are doing on the south side. Hopefully we can get creative and add a few more pieces soon. Luckily this FO isn't the reactionary kind.

They've definitely gotten better, but are they the favorites in the AL Central now?

Not sure. They still have question marks at 2B, C and 3B, but look very solid everywhere else. I'm thinking they still aren't as good as the Tigers, but probably are right there with the Indians and a weakened Royals. They could be very good if everything falls into place and Shark proves 2014 was no fluke.

I also don't think the Sox are done making moves.  I think Viciedo and Ramirez are both gone before ST starts.

Me either.  Ace keeps saying he doesn't have any animus towards them...you can always spot those that don't live here.

If we aren't at least competitive, the upcoming season will be unbearable.
