Any word on where Cashner ends up?
I'd like to see him closing at AAA.
A herd of buffalo can move only as fast as the slowest buffalo. When the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members.
In much the same way the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, we all know, kills brain cells, but naturally it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers.

I think Cashner may even start in Daytona. He was in Boise last year and didn't pitch particularly well either.

Really? That sucks, considering that he was a relatively high pick (17th overall?).
There's nothing better than to realize that the good things about youth don't end with youth itself. It's a matter of realizing that life can be renewed every day you get out of bed without baggage. It's tough to get there, but it's better than the dark thoughts. -Lance

I agree with Fella, he'll probably start in Daytona. Lou's fast track talk got me thinking AA but yeah, he needs some seasoning it appears first.

Given how long ST is this year, is there really any reason to assign anyone to minor league camp at this point? I mean, we might as well be regularly resting the guys that are actually going to be on the 25 man roster. ST is 39 games this year, a quarter of a season on nothing. So why not keep those extra players, especially the pitchers, around to eat up innings and spell the regulars after a couple innings?

While I agree with you, we still have 45 players on the team. That should be plenty to keep the guys fresh. |
