1-You guys may be right about Fox being destined to be a MiLB guy. Seriously.
2-He's a poor defender, no doubt.
However, what about right this minute?
1-The Cubs have scored one unearned run in the past 4 games. One.
2-Fox is the single hottest hitter in the entire minor leagues.
3-Our lineup is in desperate need of some juice, and the easiest guy to bench would be Lee, who just happens to play Fox's position.
For at least a week, why not call him up?
There's nothing better than to realize that the good things about youth don't end with youth itself. It's a matter of realizing that life can be renewed every day you get out of bed without baggage. It's tough to get there, but it's better than the dark thoughts. -Lance

What position player are you going to send down in order to call up Fox? Because if your answer is to DL someone, since we'd be without that player for 2 weeks, we'd need someone who could play that position.

Well, depending on what's wrong with Lee, Fox might get the callup.

It has nothing to do with having those players "holding him back". Guys at AAA are generally there for one of two reasons. Either they have progressed up to that level and/or they are there for depth for the major league team. Every single one of those guys I listed, including Fox, were classifiable under those two reasons. It just so happens that Fox had progressed to that point to play as a 1B and they wanted to get him more instruction in the outfield (I even remember last year hearing he was sent down because there was no space in the outfield for him and he needed reps).
If two of our starting outfielders would have been out with minor injuries at the same time, a guy like Murton, Patterson, Pie, Kroeger, or Torres are there so they can be brought up if the situation arises. Are you going to cut one of those guys so Fox can get outfield reps at AAA ball? No, they're there for a reason. So don't try to feed this bullshit that those players were "holding him back" just to win your argument.

Dude, they were holding him back. They were given the spots before him. You can slice it however you want, but that's what happened. His ceiling is as a part time DH, that doesn't do him much good being on a NL farm team.

Nice to see Cashner get his first start and Mateo had a decent first start after his promotion to AA.
I got nothin'.

Really? I didn't know they were grooming Cashner to start. I thought the reason we drafted him in the 1st round was because he was a lights-out reliever. And I think it's safe to say that our MLB club could use all the help it can get in the bullpen.
What gives?

Probably just trying to give him some innings. I guess we'll find out soon enough their intentions for him. Though, almost everyone that's currently in our bullpen has been a starter at some point in his minor league career.

Yup. Even if they view him as a future reliever, he'll start in the lower levels to get more, predictable, regular innings.

I'm pretty much ready to throw Lee on the DL.
