Because DeRosa is on the Indians now. Miles is on the Cubs.

If the discussion is whether or not DeRosa has been an Indian and Miles has been a Cub for the entire season, then you win. But I don't think anyone is taking the opposing point of view.

DeRosa and Fontenot were on the same team in 2008. One didn't have to leave to make room for the other.

Trading DeReso in order to give the starting 2bman job to Fontenot, save 2.5 mil is a defensible move. Until you sign a guy that you have to assume will miss 50+ games.
I like you guys a lot.

If Fontenot was gonna start DeRosa didn't have a place here. Miles was then signed to be a backup. Unless you wanted to have a 5 million dollar backup player.

With Ramirez and Bradley on the team, plus Fontenot not facing LHP, DeRosa would get plenty of ABs.

But the money saved on DeRosa helped pay for Bradley.

$2.5M didn't make a difference in Bradley's contract. Now you're just being a douche.

and i wasn't arguing the stupidity of the move, only that miles wasn't brought here to replace derosa, which he wasn't. i was arguing with brock.

Isn't the explanation Hendry gave for getting rid of DeRosa and Wood?

and why are people complaining about DeRosa and not Wood? As far as I can tell our bullpen is dog ass right now. If anything Wood has been missed more by the Cubs then DeRosa.

Hoffpauir will be taking the majority of at bats in the OF when Bradley gets injured. And IMO he is at least as good an offensive player as DeRosa, if not slightly better than him.
