It's easy to be durable when you're consistently half assing it.

No need to run hard when you hit it over the fence.

Perhaps Milton should take notes then?

I'll take the guys that are playing hard. You're not going to win any titles without that.

And Milton plays hard, but he's just fragile and gets hurt in just about any way possible. He tore his ACL arguing with an umpire. I don't think him playing at about 75% is really going to keep him healthy.

Clapp--you've been pretty consistent in advocating Bradley as the spark for the post season. How in the hell can we even count on him to be healthy at that particular time? If we even make it.
I'm 100% fine with this. I'm just glad there's an actual plan in place that isn't, "Let's load up on retreads and hope we get lucky." I'm a little tired of that plan.

We can't and I've said that from the beginning, it's a coin flip. I'll take that gamble though. If he can't be healthy, hopefully Kosuke keeps this up. If we clinch a couple weeks early(I know you're laughing Butch, just throwing this scenario out there) like last year, I'd prefer we sit Bradley a good amount of that time.

Absolutely. Like I said, it's a gamble worth taking for me. It hasn't been working the way it was, take a chance this dude is healthy and smashes some bitches around. If not, same position we've been in for 100 years.

And let me clarify, even if he's healthy and hits, that doesn't mean we're going to win for sure obviously. Takes a lot more than one player, but he'd help the cause.

Obviously. But Bradley is alot more fragile. Anyone can have an injury--but someone like Bradley is far more prone to it than someone like Lee or Soriano or just about any position player.
I'm 100% fine with this. I'm just glad there's an actual plan in place that isn't, "Let's load up on retreads and hope we get lucky." I'm a little tired of that plan.

Adam Dunn isn't exactly the guy I think of when I want a timely hit or two with RISP. A walk? Maybe. But a timely hitter, Adam Dunn is not.

Yes, I know exactly what you mean, but he sure is knocking in a lot more runs than Bradley is (so far) this year, and just hitting better all around. Dunn has definitely been more of a timely hitter than Bradley thus far, which is sad if you really think about it (since Dunn isn't known to be a timely hitter, as you pointed out). Let's just hope 'ol Milt gets it together soon....

Dunn gets 100 RBI's a year, every year. Not timely, my ass...he gets the job done.
By comparison, DLee has driven in 100 runs once in his entire career.
There's nothing better than to realize that the good things about youth don't end with youth itself. It's a matter of realizing that life can be renewed every day you get out of bed without baggage. It's tough to get there, but it's better than the dark thoughts. -Lance

40 of his rbi come via the solo home run in junk time. dunn will never ever help a contender win ballgames. it's not in his make up. walks, solo home runs, and strike outs, lots and lots of strike outs. thats all you'll ever get from dunn.

Remove "walks" from the equation and it sounds a lot like Soriano.

All of Soriano's seven homers this year have either tied the score or given us the lead. I would say that is about completely opposite of what you would normally associate with Dunn. Soriano this year has been as clutch as anyone on our team.
