I'd be a better GM. I think to run a clubhouse, you have to have some ex-jock in you, especially at the professional level.

I am waiting for classic Jody post in response to this.

Kind of surprised no one has said Tony LaRussa...

I hate his guts but he is a great manager.

He is, but it would be like Ozzie managing us or Hawk Harrelson broadcasting our games. It would feel dirty and unnatural.

Getting sodomized by Keith Hernandez isn't going to help you teach Soriano how to hit a curve ball.

It was Otis Nixon. And he was great.

2005 had very little to do with Ozzie Guillen.

That's a bullshit statement because you hate the Sox. He had as much to do with it as any other manager has to do with a WS victory. Why do you think it had very little to do with him?

Two words? Probably.

Their offense was terrible all season, and they had to trade for Carl Everett for the 50th time to be a difference maker with Thomas being hurt.

That season had everything to do with their top 4 SPs going insane for most of the season and especially October. They barely had to tap into their pen during the postseason. Ozzie had very little to do with that. People were calling him unqualified and incompetent just a season before that. Last season, maybe he deserves more credit for their winning record, but he still managed the bullpen poorly and got some career years out of Quentin and Ramirez, not to mention Floyd and Danks. All I'm saying is that their winning/losing has everything to do with the talent they have, not who's in the dugout filling out the lineup card. The one thing he's great at, and I'll give him a lot of credit for, is that he has a way of deflecting attention away from his players and onto himself, so that can be helpful to a team. That's all I'll say.
