Koske's 162 game average: .265 .370 .414 $12,500,000
Fuld this year: .267 .389. 318 $390,000
Yeah, you're right. Obviously I don't have a fucking clue what I'm talking about.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
You have no clue what the hell is going on. Fuld has 66 MLB ABs. <!--sizeo:7--><!--/sizeo-->66<!--sizec--><!--/sizec-->. What you're saying is flat out retarded.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
How is it retarded? This whole portion of the thread is predicated on trading away Bradley, Koske, and Soriano. Now, if that over paid under performing outfield were to go away, you have on your roster Fox and Fuld, who could play every day. Fox has a ML level bat. He hits for average and power. Fuld plays great defense, and has had some success in limited playing time. But getting rid of all of that money tied up in aging players would allow you to get another RF/LF who actually fits what this team needs. That's what I said originally, and that's what I'm saying now. To say that some how Koske is fucking untouchable and you can't compare anyone to him is a ridiculous statement. The bottom line is we've seen Koske's upside and it's limited, and we pay him 12.5. If fuld sucks after two months, release him, you haven't lost anything. In the meantime you've freed up a lot of money and tried to let a younger player from within your system have a shot, something all of us can agree we would enjoy seeing happen.
If you can't understand any of that then fuck you. But to say I'm somehow retarded for comparing someone to Koske is ridiculous.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
To compare someone with 16.5 games worth of MLB Ab's to Fukudome is stupid. A team without Fuk, Soriano and Bradley will instantly make us the worst team in baseball.
I don't think you said this, but I've seen it on here before. Soriano is impossible to trade, at least for a few years. I'm sick of reading about how we should get rid of him because it's not happening.

Oh, and you shouldn't get so angry. It's bad for your heart.

Ruby and I agree. Fuld is a 25th man, at best.

Ruby and I agree too. I said 'if." If there's some stupid GM out there that thinks this 25th man is worth trading for. I'd be all ears. It's not likely to happen and that's fine. I like having him around.

You're right. A team without Fuk, Milton and Soriano would be 22 games out of first instead of 10. But a team next year with the payroll flexibility that would create would have a chance to compete. That team could have an outfield of Crawford/Bay/Fox/Fuld.
I realize that Soriano can't be traded. Neither can Fuk or Bradley for that matter. And you can compare Fuld to Fukadome. I'm not trying to compare him to Joe Dimaggio.

Here's a neat exercise: in your original statement, replace "Fuld" with "Hoffpauir," "KFuk" with "DLee," and "September" with "May," and we've hit reruns again (not necessarily you, but some here).
I'm not saying Fukudome isn't underperforming compared to his contract or that Fuld doesn't play with all he's got, but all that he's got is barely Fuk on an off day. We've all championed guys based on limited playing time (I was an Ozzie Timmons man, myself), so I think we speak from experience.

And by payroll flexibility, you mean paying millions of dollars just to dump players? You realize we would never be able to unload 100% or even 60% of their salaries just to move them right? In other words, there's zero chance that we'd be able to sign either or both Crawford and Bay. No chance.

You might as well be. Fuld has been in the majors for three and a half minutes. You can't even compare him to Ryan Braun without looking like a goof.
