And a career minor league resume that does nothing to indicate he's anything more than a 25th man, at best.

I wouldn't argue the point but damn...I could watch that kid play defense all season...if the offensive numbers didn't flat suck...I'd be happy with him on my 25 man roster all year long.

That's fine, as the 5th OFer and 25th man.

Carlos Silva got 4/48 after being basically a #4. Ryan Dempster got 4/52 because of one great year, and rumors were teams such as the Yankees would've given him even more than that. A.J. Burnett got 5/82.5 after pitching three full or close to full seasons in 11 years, winning over 12 only last year.

Carlos Zambrano is just 28, has a career record of 103-67, has a career 3.52 ERA, has made over 30 starts the previous six years, winning at least 13 games all of those years. He's the only pitcher in the NL to win at least 13 games from 03-08. He's had an ERA under 4 every season for the last eight years(including this year). He's been arguably the most consistent pitcher in the game over this decade.

Maybe he'll never be a legitimate "ace", but you can usually mark him down for 15 wins and an ERA under 4. Every team will take that in a heartbeat.

I think the Cubs rushed him back and his numbers right now don't look as good as they should. 11 hits in 3.1 to an AAA Mets team at home. He'd only allowed that many hits in a game once in the last two years. 8 earned runs at home against the worst team in baseball, the Washington Nationals. 8 runs... something he'd done also just once in the last two years. Something isn't right there. They got desperate to make a playoff run, he was "good enough" to go, but clearly not 100%. We saw the same thing in Dempster's first start back from injury.

However, it doesn't appear to be a serious back issue, and he's NEVER had a serious injury, so it's something that shouldn't scare teams off. Because of how hard he plays, how he doesn't drink enough water, lots of things, he'll surely get more little injuries here and there, but it hasn't prevented him from making 30+ starts the six years before this.

Once again, Clapp is the voice of reason. Z obviously hasn't been right for a while now, so even though his numbers are trending down lately, he was still having a good year prior to going on the DL, and he is still in the top 5% of SP out there. Teams would be happy to have him, and would overpay to do so.

.274/.384/.457 while playing a fantastic center field "sucks"? You sure seem to know what you're talking about.
The thing you need to remember is that all Cardinals fans and all White Sox fans are very bad people. It's a fact that has been scientifically proven beyond a shadow of a doubt. Being a Cubs fan is the only path to rightousness and piousness. Cardinal and White Sox fans exist to be the dark, diabolical forces that oppose us. They are the yin to our yang, the Joker to our Batman, the demon to our angel, the insurgence to our freedom, the oil to our water, the club to our baby seal. Their happiness occurs only in direct conflict with everything that is pure and good in this world.

<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

How is it retarded? This whole portion of the thread is predicated on trading away Bradley, Koske, and Soriano. Now, if that over paid under performing outfield were to go away, you have on your roster Fox and Fuld, who could play every day. Fox has a ML level bat. He hits for average and power. Fuld plays great defense, and has had some success in limited playing time. But getting rid of all of that money tied up in aging players would allow you to get another RF/LF who actually fits what this team needs. That's what I said originally, and that's what I'm saying now. To say that some how Koske is fucking untouchable and you can't compare anyone to him is a ridiculous statement. The bottom line is we've seen Koske's upside and it's limited, and we pay him 12.5. If fuld sucks after two months, release him, you haven't lost anything. In the meantime you've freed up a lot of money and tried to let a younger player from within your system have a shot, something all of us can agree we would enjoy seeing happen.

If you can't understand any of that then fuck you. But to say I'm somehow retarded for comparing someone to Koske is ridiculous.

There's not a team on the planet that's overvaluing Sam Fuld or even interested in trading for him at all.
