He injured himself throwing a 3-2 pitch to Hunter Pence Saturday when he slipped on the mound. He totaled two scoreless innings. Veal is getting no work this year, only appearing in five games so far. The Rule 5 draft pick has made fans of Pirates brass who have no intention of returning him to the Cubs, so Veal should have a spot waiting for him when he returns. There is no corresponding move until Monday, so today the Pirates play a man short.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Haha... he's got 10BB in 6.1 IP... Good luck with that Pittsburgh.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

What the fuck? I get the feeling they are just going to make up injuries for the rest of the year and keep him on the DL. All just so they don't have to send him back. Talk about stunting a kids growth. Have fun Pittsburgh.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Could they literally do that all year if they wanted? Just keep putting him on the 15-day DL so they can keep him and not play a player down?

Cincinnati extended their fence to 300 feet inside the stands down the left field line. Hairston kills the ball there.

Don't play and gaining ground on 2 teams in front of us. We should just keep doing this and hope those teams slump.

That "Hero" Hamilton/Volquez trade has been quite interesting. Hamilton was an MVP contender last year, and Volquez was a Cy Young contender. Now they've each struggled a bit this season, and each dealing with injuries. They each just landed on the disabled list. Hamilton with an ab strain, could be out 2 months if he needs surgery. Volquez with right elbow tendinitis, no baseball activity for 7-10 days.

Making his Major League debut for the Philadelphia Phillies tonight, Antonio Bastardo. Sweet.

I think worse for the Reds is that Joey Votto is out. In fact, both the Reds and Cards (k. greene) have players out with stress/anxiety issues. Pujols twisted his ankle yesterday, but I guess he is ok.
I like you guys a lot.

Goddamnit! My 2nd place team in one of my fantasy baseball money leagues is now without Hamilton, Aram and Votto.
