MLB News & Notes (other than Cubs or Sox)
He might be dead in 2 years with all the temptations in that town.

My guess is that the Angels didn't want to come off as cheap compared to the Dodgers and believe that they still have new TV revenue sitting around.

The offensive power in that lineup could be crazy.

It's not like Josh would have any temptations around LA. LA's a teetotaler type of town. Just the type of place Josh needs to keep him on the straight and narrow.

Rangers saying that they didn't have an last look at the offer so no opportunity to match / beat it.

I don't understand why his agent wouldn't give them the opportunity to match.

Wasn't it reported that when the Cubs were pursuing Furcal in like 2006 the Dodgers told him "here's our offer, accept now or we're walking away?"
This is not some silly theory that's unsupported and deserves being mocked by photos of Xena.  [Image: ITgoyeg.png]

Dempster to the Red Sox, 2 year, $26.5 MM. No word on the trade clause.

Ryan gets paid again.

Saux fans no need to worry about this bit from the ESPN article.

"Over his career against Boston's AL East opponents, Dempster is 4-8 in 17 starts with a 4.91 ERA (58 earned runs over 106 1/3 innings). He has been particularly poor against the Yankees. In five starts against them, he is 0-4 with a 7.62 ERA, surrendering eight homers and walking 18 over 28 1/3 innings.

Against teams with a winning percentage of .500 or better over his career, Dempster is 51-72 (.415) with a 4.65 ERA. Faciing sub-.500 teams, he is 73-52 (.584) with a 4.01 ERA."

John Lannan is off the board, going to the Phillies on a 1 year $2.5m deal. I'm glad we didn't waste our time on him.

True. It's possible that's what happened, or it's possible he didn't want to go back to Texas I suppose.
I wish that I believed in Fate. I wish I didn't sleep so late. I used to be carried in the arms of cheerleaders.

Dickey agrees to 2 year, $25 MM deal with Blue Jays so trade with Mets being finalized.

Jays have done a nice job of revamping starting rotation in short order

I hope he terrorizes the White Sox from this moment on. Still kind of amusing that all he could get is a 1 year deal after a career year.

So just to get this straight. Getting AJ's cock stuck in a wood chipper is a bad thing?

As I was all for donating to the wood chipper's purchase
