Bauer, Albers, and Shaw to the Indians. I was really hoping find a way to swing a Bauer trade.

Wow, that's a crazy deal.
Quote:The Diamondbacks announced that they have acquired shortstop Didi Gregorius, left-handed pitcher Tony Sipp, and first baseman Lars Anderson from the Indians in exchange for right-handed pitchers Trevor Bauer, Matt Albers and Bryan Shaw. The Reds are receiving Shin-Soo Choo and Jason Donald in the swap.

The Dbacks must have seriously soured on Bauer.

Wasn't Stubbs rumored to be in the deal originally or am I thinking of something else?
12-11-2012, 10:54 PM
No you're right...seems like some conflicting reports going on.
12-11-2012, 10:56 PM
MLB just tweeted that Stubbs was in the deal for the Indians too.

And the big three ways goes down:
Indians get Bauer, Stubbs, Albers, Shaw Reds get Choo, Donald, $3.5 MM Diamondbacks get Sipp, Gregorius, Anderson Like the deal from the Reds perspective despite getting weaker on d and having a corner OF in CF but they have their lead off man to place in front of a powerful offense. Jocketty is a solid GM and will find a cheap, defensive whiz as a late inning replacement in a late spring waiver wire pick up. Don't quite understand the Diamondbacks position. Guess they really didn't value Bauer as high as others which is interesting given they had him starting within a year of drafting out of college. Only guess is that they considered him uncoachable with a funky delivery Indians who it seemed were going after veterans this offseason appeared to ditch that approach and are restocking their prospects who have a number of cost control years ahead of them. http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/873841...amondbacks

Sounds like the Dbacks really wanted a close to ML ready SS.

I can't help but think the Cubs would have been wise to trade for Bauer - maybe Barney for him. The prospect they got can't hit worth a shit but is suppose toe excellent in the field. Bauer must have some serious injury or personal red flags, because the Dbacks traded him for a meh prospect.
12-12-2012, 09:29 PM
Agreed. Supposedly the Dbacks think he's uncoachable..but there's too much talent there not to take the risk.

Angels sign Hamilton for 5 years, $125 million.
Holy Smokes.
12-13-2012, 04:22 PM
Wouldn't it have been smarter for the Angels to have re-signed Greinke? It's not like scoring runs was a problem for them. What am I missing?
12-13-2012, 04:32 PM
My guess is that the Angels didn't want to come off as cheap compared to the Dodgers and believe that they still have new TV revenue sitting around.
The offensive power in that lineup could be crazy. It's not like Josh would have any temptations around LA. LA's a teetotaler type of town. Just the type of place Josh needs to keep him on the straight and narrow. Rangers saying that they didn't have an last look at the offer so no opportunity to match / beat it. I wish that I believed in Fate. I wish I didn't sleep so late. I used to be carried in the arms of cheerleaders.
