MLB News & Notes (other than Cubs or Sox)
Buster Posey gets MRI and cortisone shot for tweaked ankle. Goes 3-3 in 5 innings. Tough to go into season being dinged up and already getting cortisone shots.

Cortisone used to be seen as a cure all and given out like candy. Current thinking is more conservative - concerned with consequences over a lifetime regarding a compound that your body doesnt / shouldnt breakdown over your lifetime. It does provide relief.

Guessing with the Giants roster of 2010 all stars, the Giants med staff will keep the medicine cabinet well stocked.

Will Arrieta be next?

Arrieta or Cobb? Cobb should be cheaper which could make him next to go.

Could see either being out till into the season and a favorite losing a pitcher to injury gets to sign one of these guys.

Surprised that a team which is not expected to be competitive signs one of these 2 to a creative backloaded deal with expressing that theyll be traded to contender by trading deadline. Guessing that MLB and players union would take exception to such an agreement

I wouldnt mind seeing Jake on the Phillies. I could happily wish him all the best.

Sounds like a multiyear deal is done.

This is not some silly theory that's unsupported and deserves being mocked by photos of Xena.  [Image: ITgoyeg.png]

I'm fine with this. Don't really expect the Phillies to compete for a championship for at least another couple of years, so hopefully Jake is at least getting paid a fair AAV.

Sounds like 3 years $75 mil.

That’s what ESPN Jesse Rogers is reporting - 3 years $25 MM per year

Good for Jake. Probably not the years he was hoping for, but $25M per year isnt anything to sneeze at.

I'm just glad he didnt sign with Milwaukee or St. Louis.  Weird that he's gone though.
