MLB News & Notes (other than Cubs or Sox)
Good to see the Yankees also joining the salary dump hipocrites club with the Ottavino trade. Surprised the Red Sox played along.

No one elected it into Baseball Hall of Fame for 2021.

And just to get ahead of all the commentary...No one had a fine career but not certain if it was HOF worthy

Theo already working hard on his next fixer upper project.

Almost everything is going bad for the game at the moment, so these recent hires provide hope for the future. You can almost start to see the tide turning.

Cardinals acquire Arenado

“The Nolan Arenado trade to the St. Louis Cardinals is done, sources tell ESPN. Rockies getting multiple players and sending upward of $50 million to St. Louis.” Per ESPN

Let the rebuild begin.

Typical, Scott Rolen part 2

Not saying that Arenado isn't great, but his home/away splits are pretty extreme. He's definitely getting a nice Coors boost.

We'll see, I think he'll rake pretty good in St Louis. I just can't believe they're going to have Goldschmidt and Arenado in their lineup for the next bunch of years. Such a fucking bummer.

Glad that owners drafted something as point of discussion which includes both players getting paid for full season and delaying season by a month. It makes little sense to try to have spring training commence in a few weeks in one of the globes hot spots for Covid. AZs Cactus League is hot spot for new cases.

Doubt if this proposal will get job done but its done movement as opposed to waiting for start of season to commence formal communications

I see the BN crew is beside themselves now that Goldstein is back on twitter.  Get a room.

I'm having a hard time caring that much, to be honest. One, the Cubs don't appear to want to compete anytime soon. Two, Arenado is turning 30 this season and Goldschmidt is turning 33 (I think?). I'm sure they'll still be productive for a couple of years, but it isn't like they just landed Tatis.

Kevin Goldstein.  Looks like the new management team with the Astros canned him.  I always thought he was a bit of a smarmy prick, one Keith Law is enough.
