MLB News & Notes (other than Cubs or Sox)
Theo is now working for a Dallas-based private equity firm that specializes in taking minority stakes in sports teams. He sure seems to be on the path toward team ownership.

It would be nice if the Ricketts sold to an old friend.

Depends on to whom and what deal looks like (scope, structure, etc). Ricketts sucks ass currently but there are worse owners / ownership groups

Understood and believe that Theo could be a great owner but could imagine Ricketts structuring deal which could handcuff new ownership. e.g. TV rights either excluded from deal or locked in at below market rates for X years.

Finally, rumor mill has it that Theo has completed his time in Chicago so we shouldn’t hold out expectations

Oh, I'm sure the Ricketts will own the team for multiple generations and my grandkids will be bitching about whichever Ricketts progeny is at the helm in 50 years.

Still surprised that Cardinals turned down Wong but hey Brewers are right there. Yup, Brewers like Wong.

According to Athletic, 2 year deal for $18 MM with team option for 3rd for another $8 MM.

Bauer in agreement to sign with Dodgers according to ESPN

Would be nice to have a deep pocketed ownership group who can consistently sign free agent talent

Kinda surprised he didn't end up with the other LA team, but fuck him and the Dodgers.
