MLB News & Notes (other than Cubs or Sox)
Quintana released on waivers.  I know he was mostly decent in 2017, but that has to be one of our worst trades of all time.

It will take more years to get into the Brock for Broglio territory but at least Cubs dont play Sox more than 6 times a year

Quintana has been claimed by the Giants and has already planned to start Game 7 in the World Series

That was an awful trade, but I understand why they made it. I don't remember the details, but was it possible for them to get Verlander instead? Wish we could do that one over...

Yeah, i'm pretty sure that was the year Verlander was holding out for a trade here and the Ricketts were too damn cheap to pony up.  Believe Verlander ended up in the running for the Cy Young that year.

Jimenez has been hurt constantly but he's productive when healthy and Cease has been a pretty serviceable mid rotation starter.  I never liked Quintana, always thought he was fool's gold with the Sox.

Yeah, I understand WHY that trade was made at the time (Lester comps, controllable, young-ish LHP), but I never trusted the results from Q when he was a Sock. Also you could argue that we gave up more for Q than what the Red Sox gave up for Sale, so that really pissed me off. The inability to pony up for Verlander just made the trade look even more brutal.

This season has been exhausting in every way imaginable. I can't wait for it to be over.

Congrats Jon on 200. Pretty cool you are probably going to the playoffs one last time (hard to imagine he doesn't retire after this year but who knows).

Why is has to be on that team I guess sums up this year pretty well.

I would have been torn had he won his 200th at Wrigley this weekend, and had to watch the fans then give him a half-hearted standing ovation. I guess what I'm saying is that I hope his time in St Louis ends in a couple of weeks, and no one remembers it at all.

Padres DFA’d Arrieta earlier this week.

Guessing some team will give him a minor league deal for next season. Believe he was the Cubs best pitcher in April but injuries/age - plus the anti-Vax position - coupled with tendency to give up 8 runs in early innings killed him this season.

Jake provided some incredible moments in 2015-2017, for sure. But, man...he fell hard in every way imaginable.

Somehow my 5 least favorite teams made the postseason this year. What a trash season of baseball this has been from every imaginable angle.

Ill be supporting the Rays.

Brewers, Cardinals, Astros & White Sox can all eat a bag of turds. Ill support Bryant & Rizzos endeavours but their teams can eat a bag of flaming turds too. Braves & Red Sox are whatever

I'd add the tomahawk-chopping Braves and especially the Yankees to the turd-eating cabal.

Yeah, it's either Red Sox, Rays, or Giants for me...probably in that order. So many despicable teams made the playoffs this year...
