We still have 7 games left against the Cardinals. That's a lot of games. We could bury them if we play well. Or...let's not talk about the alternative.

Yeah, I'd rather not contemplate that right now. Let's beat the shit out of the Mets now and worry about the Cards in a couple of days.

Dodgers shut out the Nats today. Looks like they've righted the ship.

The Pirates aren't going to be much help.

This is why Len Kasper's idea of flipping the order of draft picks for the first round makes sense. First pick goes to the non-playoff team with the best record and descends from there. Second round goes back to normal. Make non-contending teams play hard for the draft pick, not tank for it.

That's an interesting idea.

Jack Taschner pitched in the majors for the Giants (among a couple teams), he's now a local police officer. He's also married to a girl I went to high school with. Anyway, he's a pretty good guy and has made a connection with the kids at a local high school as one of their liaison officers. Last Friday he became a local celeb when he lead the student section in one of their cheers.
http://www.jsonline.com/story/news/local...680185001/ While not a huge deal, it's refreshing to hear a positive story about a police officer. Last year, he (Jack) heard about a little boy (Jack Taschler) whose name was only 1 letter off his own and had had his mother just recently die. He sent a care package to the kid with a game used, autographed glove so the boy could remember the times he played catch with his mom.
I got nothin'.

Scherzer left game in 4th inning with an injury. That could be huge.

Yeah, didn't look serious but you could see the concern in Dustys eyes. A real shame.
