$2 fucking billion.

No words.

[/quote]

Frank McCourt has been portrayed as a complete idiot and yet has managed to sell the dodgers for close to a 2 billion dollar profit.

$845 mil

The team was valued closer to $900mil ($845mil purchase price + Trib's $50mil+) after adding back in the Trib's roughly 5% minority interest, which hopefully at some point they unload on someone else.

And I have some experience dealing with the managing entity in the Dodgers deal, Guggenheim Partners. They are a bunch of clueless hacks who love to chase trophy properties with no regard for value. Good luck, Angelenos.

Forbes had the Dodgers (with team, stadium and property) at around $1.4 billion value. So $2.0 billion is considerably above the value.

Especially when you consider that the deal doesn't include the ballpark or the surrounding real estate. Just ridiculous. Of course, McCourt would agree to this deal without blinking.

Absolute craziness.

This deal has "Hendry" written all over it.
Reply
And In the McCourt is still associated with ownership as he will be partner in the ownership of the parking lots.

Broadcasting rights are driving the increase in value but considering McCourts record with partners how the hell could anyone see ths as a good deal?

How much did McCourt originally pay for the franchise? Apparently Magic Johnson is part of the ownership group...
