MLB News & Notes (other than Cubs or Sox)

Hey, Fat Elvis keep talking about how Selig extorted Crane to move the Astros to the AL and hopefully neither you nor the Cards will feel any repercussions

"Selig responded by taking out a two-page ad in the Sunday Houston Chronicle to explain the decision to Astros fans."

WTF?

Did it just say "Fuck you, Berkman." in 100 pt. Comic Sans?

I'm glad the Stros are moving. It just makes sense. Berkman is right, though.

They are lucky to still have a team in that shitkicker of a town. It's not as though they are being contracted or moved to a different market. They're STILL the Astros and they still play in Houston for god's sake. Selig should have just ignored the team just as its fans have all these years.

Houston is the 4th largest city in the US. Directly behind NY, LA and Chicago. All of which supports two teams. Just saying. I wouldn't consider them lucky to have a team.

I didn't say it was a small market, just that the town itself (along with most of Texas) blows.

Carp shut down. Likely to start the season on the DL. Damn shame.

Quote:Authorities say Boston Red Sox relief pitcher Bobby Jenks has been arrested on charges of driving under the influence.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy saw Jenks’ SUV driving erratically early Friday in Fort Myers. Jenks has been released on bail.

An arrest report says Jenks told the deputy he had taken “too many muscle relaxers.” The deputy said Jenks was shaking uncontrollably and had a difficult time speaking.

The report says Jenks also told the deputy he hit another car at a strip club. The deputy found a small amount of damage on his bumper.

Apparently Bobby likes the sauce.

Quote:Adam Eaton is a 23-year-old outfielder prospect for the Diamondbacks.

Adam Eaton is also a 34-year-old former big-league pitcher, last seen on the Stew being booed by Phillies fans as he picked up his World Series ring.

It should come as no surprise, then, that the younger Eaton is often confused for the older one. Fans send him the wrong baseball cards to sign. They ask how his arm is feeling.

There are also some brief privileges that sharing a name can have. For example, Arizona's Adam Eaton was sitting in the clubhouse earlier this spring when he was handed six checks from the union's licensing program worth at least $20,000 apiece.

Only problem? The money had reached the wrong Adam Eaton.

Ryan Madson out for season with torn ligament.

Dusty strikes again? Don't know how he did it but considering Dusty's track record maybe he had Madson warming up before each Spring Traing game.

Looks like Marshall will be the Reds closer.

I don't think Madson pitched at all this spring. I can already feel the Reds' season slipping away from them before it even started.

So Dusty had Madson warm up but never had him enter a game? What a tool! Maybe Ryan said something about Dusty's toothpick habit?

Rumors seem to be Marshall may have to close. Don't know if that's going to work too well.

$2 fucking billion.

No words.
I hate my pretentious sounding username too.
