You're talking about a top 20 and a top 60 prospect (thereabouts) plus a PTBNL. I don't think it's horrible.

Or, to put it another way, the Rays get Matt Duffy.

2 guys that may end up being good (1 struggling this season) for an all star with a cheap contract and an above average, costs controlled closer.
I got nothin'.

Jeffress is fine, but he's outperforming his FIP. He's nothing special. Lucroy's contract is for 1 & 1/3 years. Personally, I think the Brewers did a good job avoiding Gallo.
We'll see, of course, but I can't fault the Brewers here.
In fact, considering their entire haul from all their trades, their farm is pretty stacked.

Aledmys Diaz headed to the DL with a hairline fracture in his right thumb, courtesy of an Andrew Cashner 2-seamer.

That HBP by Cashner was responded to by the Cardinals hitting Giancarlo Stanton, which led to this:

This is not some silly theory that's unsupported and deserves being mocked by photos of Xena.

I'm pretty sure a pitcher that won't retaliate is looking at a beat down by Molina.

Maybe I'm old school, but, I have no problem with them plunking Stanton. As long as they don't go head hunting then I'm okay with it.

That's not old school, it's just dumb. If a player is hit, with no reason to believe it's intentional, retaliation is idiotic.

I was just going to ask if there was any indication that it was intentional? If not, why is it ok to throw at someone?

It sends a message. Of course, the message is "we're a bunch of assholes," but at least its a message.

Joe Mauer just went deep off Andrew Miller in his debut. They're getting tattooed. Why was Miller in there, did he need the work?

Intentional or not, he hit one of the Cards best hitters in the hand and broke it. Retaliation was going to happen whether Cashner did it on purpose or not. The umps let the players police themselves. Like I said, as long as they didn't headhunt on Stanton (I don't know where he got hit) I am fine with it. You don't agree, that's fine.

Retaliation for accidents is dumb. Q.E.D.
