I was so hoping we could keep this cyclical argument going for a 2nd week.

 

My issue with that description is with the term "too much," which is a relative term.  If you characterize "too much" as more than you would have liked to have paid, I agree.  If you characterize it as more than the market demanded, I disagree.  Assuming the former, I think reasonable people can differ over whether this was worth the price, given that it was what the market demanded.

I'm saying you didn't have to respond to Coldneck--new to the discussion--with an argument you already made. You could have chosen not to perpetuate what you decried as a cycle and chose to do so anyhow. That's what I'm saying.

By the way, I'll be the first to admit that you and I are very similar in that we should probably let more things ride on this board. In my case, I think if I excised one third of the things I posted, I would come off smarter and happier than I probably am.

Marlins are getting Cashner and Rea from the Pads.

 

Rea was pulled from his start on Saturday with an elbow strain.  As a result, he was traded back to the Padres today for (not that) Luis Castillo, one of the pitchers that had been traded from the Marlins to the Padres.

 

So the trade ends up going from:

 

Cashner, Rea, & Guerrero for Cosart, Naylor, Capps, & Castillo

 

to:

 

Cashner & Guerrero for Cosart, Naylor, & Capps

It sounds like Rangers may end up with both Beltran & Lucroy (while paying a hefty price, including Joey Gallo).

If the Brewers didn't get more than Lewis Brinson and Luis Ortiz for both Lucroy and Jeffress, they got hosed.  I have to assume there are more prospects coming.  I can't imagine they gave up a current all star C with a low price and a reasonable closer for 2 decent prospects.  There has to be more to that trade.
