MLB News & Notes (other than Cubs or Sox)
Andrew Miller to the Indians for Clint Frazier and Justus Sheffield?  Anyone heard any chatter on that?

Quote:At the risk of continuing to harp, judging from what Washington gave up, I wonder what Melancon would have cost the Cubs instead of the Chapman haul.
The Cubs would've had to give up more for a trade within the division, methinks.

It would have been a harder trade all around.  The Pirates probably would have demanded more from the Cubs, and the Cubs would have been more hesitant to give up long-term assets to the Pirates.

This is not some silly theory that's unsupported and deserves being mocked by photos of Xena.  [Image: ITgoyeg.png]

It's a done deal.

The Cleveland Indians made a big move to bolster their bullpen on Sunday, acquiring All-Star left-hander Andrew Miller from the New York Yankees for a package of prospects.

The Yankees will receive four players in return, a package headed by minor league outfielder Clint Frazier and pitcher Justus Sheffield.

I've read that LuCroy vetoed the trade.

He did. He wanted the Indians do void the option next year so he can be a free agent, obviously they said no.

And yet, judging by what the Pirates got from the Nationals, it's hard to imagine the package coming close to what the Cubs gave to the Yankees.

Also, don't look now, but the Cardinals got Zach Duke for a song.

It's almost as if you are rooting for the Chapman trade to backfire so you can say "I told you so".

We're comparing Zach Duke to Aroldis Chapman, are we now?  Was Brian Schlitter busy?

It's almost as if you're inferring whatever the hell you want from my comments.

Good grief, Kid. I didn't make that comparison. You guys and the inference. A better comp--but far from perfect, considering years of eligibility for starters--would the Montgomery deal. I'm just pointing out that other teams are taking a tack that recognizes that you can get value from trading for relief pitchers without offering a mint.

I'll stop making the point. I'm sure it's annoying when I note every RP who gets traded from a non-Yankee team. It's just one of those things where I'm surprised my opinion doesn't coincide someone else on this board. Misery loves company and all that rot.

I didn't even want David Duke to join forces with the Cardinals. (If he hasn't already.)
