MLB News & Notes (other than Cubs or Sox)
Ken Rosenthal is saying that LaRoche retired because Kenny Williams wouldn't let him bring his 14-year-old son into the clubhouse anymore.

It's a been a banner public relations day for St. Louis and the White Sox today.

All I need now is the story to break that McCutchen asks to be traded to the AL because he spotted a confederate flag hanging in Clint Hurdle's office.

as long as it leads to more death threats for some random guy collecting or transporting urine samples.  Those guys are the real villains in these types of situations.

So how soon will this guy become a Cardinal?

I think I agree with the Sox on this. Having your kid there occasionally is one thing. There everyday is another. The team should not be responsible for a 14 year old kid in the clubhouse.
Some men are born mediocre, some men achieve mediocrity, and some men have mediocrity thrust upon them.

This is not some silly theory that's unsupported and deserves being mocked by photos of Xena.  [Image: ITgoyeg.png]

When LaRoche was with the Nats, he used to pull his kid out of school for like weeks at a time to have him come to spring training.  It's just weird all around.

Either way, it makes the Sox look bad. Quit because your boss will no longer allow your kid to come to work with you everyday? Lame....

Try bringing your kid to work with your everyday and let me know how that works out.

Not sure what you mean. I think we're on the same page. I'm saying it's lame that LaRoche felt he had to walk away from millions just because his kid couldn't come to work with him.

It's stupid to think that's a good idea. An occasional visit, fine. But 100% of the time, that's too much.

I honestly don't think it makes the sox look bad. They asked him to not bring him EVERY GAME and LaRoche literally quit his job. He wasn't fired, he quit. Granted, he's made enough money to make that kind of decision and that's his right. But it's also the right of his employer to ask him not to abuse a privilege.

Trust me, I want nothing but shame and hatred for that organization, but this is not worthy of either.

Not allowing his kid to be in club house maybe a contributing factor but LaRouche may have finally determined that he sucks, wasn't having fun, and was working for the White Sox.

OR maybe LaRoche hung them up because he sucks at baseball now and this was an excuse, flimsy as it may be, that gave him a chance to save face.
