I like Fowler a lot. Not just as a player -- he seems like a good guy, too. Fowler in CF and Heward in RF makes our OF defense a helluva lot better. But then there's Soler and Baez... I wish we could bring him back but I don't see how he would fit.

That's where I'm at.  Good dude.  Adequate CF/leadoff hitter for us.  Just doesn't fit our current team.

It would be remarkable if this is true.  For one thing, his value is a hell of a lot higher than that.  For another, he turned down $15.8M for 2016 alone when he turned down the Cubs' qualifying offer (and he was right to do so).  Every year there is a player or 2 that gets screwed by the QO system and it looks like it may be Fowler.

 

I think it's safe to say that Kendrick got screwed too.

 

And yet Ian Kennedy gambled and won.

Comcast sideswiped by lawsuit against MLB

For the 2016 and 2017 Major League Baseball seasons, Comcast will have to give customers a 12.5 percent discount from last year's price on MLB Extra Innings. The result of the lawsuit, which attacked MLB's broadcasting practices under an antitrust law, ruled in favor of the plaintiff, compelling MLB to offer cheaper, one-team options to its popular MLB.TV product. While Comcast is not obligated to offer a one-team choice, it is still bound by the reduction in price.
