MLB News & Notes (other than Cubs or Sox)
Plus, 81 opportunities for a walk-off slow burn.

The fact that he'd rather travel to Detroit and Cleveland than go to the cell is hilarious.

If traveling to and from the cell is such a pain, will he broadcast from Wrigley?  Again, that's something I will find hilarious

I'm a little sad to be honest, its only a matter of time until he's done for good.  My sox schadenfreude won't be as pleasurable without his 30 seconds of dead air frustration and disappointment.

Some men are born mediocre, some men achieve mediocrity, and some men have mediocrity thrust upon them.

I hope he lives to see a Cubs World Series and then dies the next day.

I wonder who'll be the first person to post:

He's gone.

I'm sure some here have already heard this news, but both of these contracts seem very risky to me.

Chris Davis back to the Orioles for $161M / 7 years

Ian Kennedy to the Royals for $70M / 5 years

Setting aside the Heyward opt-outs, Davis got as much AAV just for 1 less year.  That's nuts.

This is not some silly theory that's unsupported and deserves being mocked by photos of Xena.  [Image: ITgoyeg.png]

Considering that he is only 1 year removed from a .196 / .300 / .400 slash line with only .209 ISO / 59 RC and is 30 in March and doesn't offer much versatility (corner OF my ass), this is a really dumb deal. Add to it that the O's pulled their original $150 M offer in Dec, then had Showalter go on a media rant criticizing Davis, and then had to bump it up and add a full NTC to get a deal done makes things even nuttier.

Agreed that the O's overpaid and screwed themselves regarding Davis but what was available to the O's if they didn't resign Davis? They need to keep Camden packed and most likely couldn't replace his offense with what remained in free agency.

They needed a SP help and a bat. You could argue they could have acquired both, say Cespendes/Upton/Gordon + Gallardo/Chen for roughly the same AAV (+$5M or so AAV) as what it cost them to re-sign Davis.
