MLB News & Notes (other than Cubs or Sox)
The dog with the least fleas for me is the Rays

Only potential issue is that Ricketts might proclaim that since the Rays won it all on less than $71 MM season opening payroll that the Cubs Front Office would be limited to that amount for next 3 seasons

Nice to see all the former Cubs hitting tonight.

Well, half the Cubs homers in this MFY vs Boston are quite welcomed. Rizzo looked like Johnny Pesky. And now I feel one of the reasons Teddy Ballgame named him "Pesky".

I much more fucking irritated about Schwarber.  I just knew he was going to mash after he left.

Well, Schwarber beat Rizzo, I guess.

I wish I disagreed with you about this concern, but I dont.

Quote:Yeah, it's either Red Sox, Rays, or Giants for me...probably in that order. So many despicable teams made the playoffs this year...

Any fondness for the Giants for me was sapped in 2016 playoffs with Derek Law acting like a goofball in the dugouts. He forlorn face after we rallied in the 9th inning in game 5 was so satisfying.

Same. Hey, though, we just fired Iapoce so problem solved.

He had some really big hits for us, but this year feels like he's finally doing what we all thought he had the ability to do.  Very frustrating.

I am also happily no longer bummed out by the Gleyber trade, so there's that.

One of the baseball dads whose son plays with my son is a Yankees fan and he's been talking shit to me about that trade since it happened. He's been pretty quiet lately.

Still young and I realize last season was mostly a wash, but yikes.

This same dude was talking all sorts of shit about the Cubs not being a dynasty and how the Yankees were poised to win multiple World Series titles...so far that hasn't worked out so well for him. People tend to forget how difficult it is to win one World Series, much less multiple titles with the same roster. There are so many well run organizations now that you really have to have some good fortune to get just one trophy.

So this WC broadcast is about as garbage as I expected it to be already.
