MLB News & Notes (other than Cubs or Sox)
So the Cardinals got Juan Nicasio from the Phillies for minor league infielder Eliezer Alvarez. The Pirates look dumb, as they gave Nicasio up for nothing, which was allegedly a move to keep the Cubs from getting Nicasio, who reportedly claimed Nicasio in the first place.

The Pirates are run by a bunch of amateurs.

Their grounds crew runs their F.O.

Very late realization that the Nats would actually be first to clinch this year.

I would not be amused if I were a Dodger fan right now.

How's Wood pitching for them these days?

He's the guy that needs to fall off the map.

So Miller bought up 15,000 tickets to the upcoming Brewers/Pirates series and gave them away. Kind of pathetic a team in a playoff race can't, you know, sell tickets.

If you think the Cubs are in a bad place right now, just remember it could always be worse, like the Dodgers over the past 3 weeks. Ouch.

As brutal as that is, they still have a 9 game lead in their division. That's nuts.

True, but if they don't right the ship soon, they could lose out to the Nats on having home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

This is true.

Baseball is so freaking weird sometimes.

Just imagining having someone like Miller as a shut down 8th inning guy hurts.

To have that kind of talent in the pen and also have a great closer is where it's at.

You do realize that Miller has appeared in two games since the end of July, right?

I assumed he was a big reason for their streak.

Now I think they are going to win the WS and the story will be the end of two droughts.

Guess better them than the Dodgers/Astros/Whomever.

Pittsburgh is kicking the shit out of the Brewers.
