MLB News & Notes (other than Cubs or Sox)
Nothing like a guy playing for his personal stats. Good for him.

I'm gonna go ahead and bet the under on that one. Once these stars sign big contracts, they usually abandon the base-stealing side of their game to ensure their longevity.

Bullshit. I challenge you to come up with one example where a 40/40 guy signed a big contract and then failed to even steal 20 bases ever again...whose name doesn't rhyme with Oriano.

[/quote]

It's a very short list of 40-40 ballplayers:

Canseco

Bonds

ARod

Soriano

I'm sticking to my guns on this one, but I never said Kemp would never steal 20 again.

I agree with your guns on this one as well. I'm going to have to fire whoever wrote that joke for me.

I assumed it was joke at first, but then I re-read it and wasn't sure.

The obvious tell-tale sign of a good one.

haha. It totally makes sense for these guys to ease down the SB's to ensure health....but Kemp took it upon himself to declare 50/50. This should be interesting.

If Angelo had picked McClellin, I would have been expecting to hear by training camp that kid has stage 4 cancer, is actually 5'2" 142 lbs, is a chick who played in a 7 - 0 defensive scheme who only rotated in on downs which were 3 and 34 yds + so is not expecting to play a down in the NFL until the sex change is complete and she puts on another 100 lbs. + but this is Emery's first pick so he'll get a pass with a bit of questioning. - 1060Ivy

Grady Sizemore already scheduled to miss opening day due to strained back. Surprised that he played 71 games last year seemed like he was on the DL for the vast majority of the year.

Zimmerman gets 6 year extension $100 MM with full no trade clause.

Zimmerman has been the face of the franchise for some years but can't see him producing anywhere near a MLB level in 2020.

Eh seems like a lot of money for Zimmerman.

Twins Zumaya diagnosed with torn ligament in elbow after throwing a batting practice session. Out for season maybe done with career.

Recall 2006 when he just made people look silly. Just looked it up. He had 97 k's in 83 1/3 innings his rookie season.

Quote:PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- Mets principal owner Fred Wilpon said on Tuesday that Major League Baseball has approved the sale of seven shares of the team, which are in escrow, and that three more could soon be on the way. Wilpon also revealed that his family has purchased two additional shares, potentially giving the Mets as much as a $240 million infusion of cash.

"[Fans] shouldn't be concerned about us owning the franchise," Wilpon said, "because we intend to own the franchise for a very long time."
