Quote:It might hurt short-term, but the Sox should absolutely go all-out firesale, IMO. Imagine the haul they could get for Sale alone. They aren't in a position to make a playoff run anytime soon. My guess is that they don't do it, though; which will only extend their mediocrity. Which makes me less miserable.

It's not gonna happen, but, what would it take to get Sale? I'm guessing Schwarber, Baez, McKinney, and maybe even Edwards.

Sale scares me. His stick figure like physique and jerky mechanics would make me think twice about any trade for him. Not saying he isn't great now, but giving up that much talent when you could just dip into the FA market again in the offseason seems risky.

Quote:According to this article, the CBS contract allows CBS to move the Cubs to the Score after this season only (undoubtedly because they knew their Sox deal was up).
I haven't seen a bigger collection of stiffs since TWD.
Quote:WLS beat out two other 50,000-watt AM stations, including CBS Radio sports/talk WSCR AM 670, which has been the radio home of the White Sox since 2006. Also vying for the broadcast rights was Tribune Media news/talk WGN AM 720.
Peter Bowen, vice president and Chicago market manager of Cumulus Media, declined to comment. But the White Sox deal is believed to be part of a plan to revive the moribund station of Big John Howell, Jonathon Brandmeier, Rush Limbaugh and Steve Dahl. The latest Nielsen Audio survey shows WLS in 29th place with a 1.1 percent share and a cumulative weekly audience of 343,600. Revenue declined 27.5 percent last year.

They have almost nothing of value in terms of position players prospects. Not quite sure how they're going to turn it around anytime soon.

I love seeing "moribund" and "white sox" in the same sentence. It goes together like peanut butter and jelly.
So WGN radio thought that having the Cubs was a losing proposition yet they bid on the sox? They probably thought "Here's a team we can really lowball and we'd still be paying market value." I guess WLS one upped them. LOL
Some men are born mediocre, some men achieve mediocrity, and some men have mediocrity thrust upon them.

All-Star voting is such a joke. The new commish needs to overhaul the whole thing.

It's awful. Maybe have the players/managers pick the starters, and the fans pick the reserves (of the players available that won't be starting)? Also being allowed to vote 35 times is kind of silly, isn't it?
I say fuck the fans, let the people actually playing the game decide who goes. That will never happen though.

If you want to engage the fans, then let the fan vote count for a portion of the vote (like 20%) and be done with it. No way fans should be deciding this thing.

Yeah that'd work. Throw in players, management, or whatever and they each get a percentage of the total vote.

From the article:
Quote:If the Cubs want to move Sale across town, great, all it will cost them is Kyle Schwarber, Javier Baez, and Arismendy Alcantara, plus they have to absorb Melky Cabrera in the deal as well.
Done. The Sox would never do that, however. Nor should they.
