Tabata lowered his elbow to get hit, didn't even try to get out of the way. It was a breaking pitch. I wouldn't be shocked of Tabata gets beaned tomorrow.

He still got the no hitter

Is he supposed to stop trying to get on base because there's a perfect game going on? Plenty of guys do that, no different here.

If it were a 1-0 game I could see trying to get anyone on base at all costs. It was 6-0 though. Kind of a dick move in that situation. Not certain that there will or should be any message sent tomorrow though.

What Rok said. Just seemed pretty weak to me.

Sidebar: Mesoraco is finally having hip surgery. Finally.
Just found that interesting since they kept him on their active roster for weeks knowing he was injured. Then would have him pinch hit randomly in a losing game, so his DL date would restart. Idiots.
Signature.

It wouldn't surprise me if Tabata got a fastball in the ribs if he is in the starting lineup tomorrow.

the point of every at bat is to get on base. I don't care what the situation is or what the score is. A perfect game is supposed to be rare and hard to achieve. It's not up to the batter to make it easier.

A Cubs fan knows how important spectacles like this pitching bid was today.
I'm glad Lester got good work in today. Got pulled. And we got the win. Go ice your arm Max. See you in September. Eyes on the prize.

Sounds like the Marlins may be the first sellers in the trade market, with Koehler and Hand reportedly being pursued by some yet to be identified team. I just hope it isn't the Cubs.

Just saw the Tabata AB. Sure, it messed up a perfect game, but that same thing would've happened in a spring training game. No malice in what he did.

If only there were a rule that states the batter shouldn't try to blatantly lean into a pitch.

I think that even though leaning into a pitch can be blatant. that rule as written is unenforceable. It essentially requires all batters to attempt to get out of the way of all pitches. That's not possible. Some pitches break inside too late for a batter to react.
