MLB News & Notes (other than Cubs or Sox)
Sounds like the Cards are reworking their TV deal post-2018. Could be a huge windfall for them. Hopefully they don't cause the bubble to burst before our new network emerges. That would be so typical.

Uncle texted me and said Wheeler will be opting for TJS and, obviously, will be out for the season.

Marlins sign up Yelich for 7 years, $49.5 MM.

Marlins outfield will include a 24 year old, Stanton, and a 23 year old starters.

This is not some silly theory that's unsupported and deserves being mocked by photos of Xena.  [Image: ITgoyeg.png]

Somewhere, Jeff Luhnow's laughter is building to a maniacal crescendo.

They tried to sign Ozuna to an extension as well, but his agent is Boras....so you should know how well that went.

Keep drafting position players Theo/Jed/Jason
Some men are born mediocre, some men achieve mediocrity, and some men have mediocrity thrust upon them.

Kershaw with a line drive to the face.

Kershaw just got drilled on a come backer to the mound. I think Dodger fans everywhere just shit themselves.

He seems to be ok though

I just want to drink beer and play atari

"It felt like getting hit with a pitch, nothing serious," Kershaw said. "I don't think I panicked too much. It's just sore."

Jacques Plante says it may be time for a change.

What type of change? Aside from forcing pitchers to wear facemasks there is nothing that can really be done to protect them.

The 'force' usually comes from the player. Someone will probably insist he wants protection for himself first.

Brandon Phillips strikes again with another anti-stats rant. Nightengale has been on a roll lately (actually he's been reporting shit for decades). It must suck for Votto to be on the same roster as this dolt.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb.../70337854/

"I don't do that MLB Network on-base percentage (stuff),'' Phillips told USA TODAY Sports. "I think that's messing up baseball. I think people now are just worried about getting paid and worrying about on-base percentage instead of just winning the game.

"That's the new thing now. I feel like all of these stats and all of these geeks upstairs, they're messing up baseball, they're just changing the game. It's all about on-base percentage. If you don't get on base, then you suck. That's basically what they're saying. People don't care about RBI or scoring runs, it's all about getting on base.

"Why we changing the game after all of this time? If we all just took our walks, nobody would be scoring runs. Nobody would be driving anybody in or getting anybody over. How you going to play the game like that? People don't look at doing the things the right way and doing things to help your team win."

"I remember back in the day you hit .230, you suck. Nowadays, you hit .230 with a .400 on-base percentage, you're one of the best players in the game. That's amazing. I've never seen (stuff) like that. Times have changed. It's totally different now."

Holy shit. It's amazing how much he doesn't understand. Using stats in baseball isn't some new thing invented by "geeks." And what does "MLB Network" have to do with it? lol
