Huh?

You know how the Dodgers use laser pointers on the field to help align their defense? I'm guessing that's what they're talking about.

I was going to ask about this, as well. Thanks.

Well, more than just the use of the technology of the rangefinders. This precludes any team to make marks (the Dodgers uses painted marks) on the field for each opposing batter.

I wonder if teams could get away with a series of small divots. Probably not for long, I guess.

VR sunglasses could be used. I'm serious.

That would go against the existing "no tech" rule.

There's a rule? Good.

In a cursory search, I find only allusions to the "no electronics" rule when MLB has made exceptions to it, but, for example, cell phones in the dugout are banned. Each team gets to use one iPad, though. Apple Watches apparently are cool too.

On an unrelated note, guess which major tech company has a multimillion dollar deal with MLB?

Red Sox appear to have dodged a bullet as David Priceis not expected to need surgery according to Dr Andrews. Expecting 10 days of rest so could miss some April starts but no surgery.

Honest question - How frequently do pitchers or players who were thought to need surgery and then "just need rest" end up having shitty seasons and getting the surgery eventually anyway?

And could I have possibly written that sentence any worse?

I got nothin'.

The one instance that comes to mind is with Pedro Martinez. They thought he needed shoulder surgery and he opted for a weight training regimen instead to build up his arm strength. He ended up having a solid year after that.

But shoulder and elbow are pretty different, obviously. Price has so much mileage on his arm, I think he might be in trouble...

Yeah, I would still be very worried if I were a Red Sox fan. Any sort of elbow issue is cause for concern, whether it requires surgery or not. These things tend to linger.
