Well, more than just the use of the technology of the rangefinders. This precludes any team to make marks (the Dodgers uses painted marks) on the field for each opposing batter.
I wonder if teams could get away with a series of small divots. Probably not for long, I guess.

In a cursory search, I find only allusions to the "no electronics" rule when MLB has made exceptions to it, but, for example, cell phones in the dugout are banned. Each team gets to use one iPad, though. Apple Watches apparently are cool too.
On an unrelated note, guess which major tech company has a multimillion dollar deal with MLB?

Honest question - How frequently do pitchers or players who were thought to need surgery and then "just need rest" end up having shitty seasons and getting the surgery eventually anyway?
And could I have possibly written that sentence any worse?

Yeah, I would still be very worried if I were a Red Sox fan. Any sort of elbow issue is cause for concern, whether it requires surgery or not. These things tend to linger.
