I don't understand why MLB doesn't implement the rule: If you leave the dugout/bullpen you'll get suspended. Much like hockey and basketball.

I would definitely be against getting rid of brawls.

Apparently MLB agrees, handing out such small suspensions today.

Ian Kennedy is suspended for 10 games. He will probably appeal and drop it on Monday (day after his next start). Over the next 10 games they have 2 off days which the club will use as his starts so they won't even have to bring anyone else up to take his starts. FanGraphs has an article on it.

Rockies sent down ex-Cub Chris Volstad of the 10+ ERA after giving up 3 ER in his latest outing.  

 

Chris appears to only had a couple of those 3 runs an inning outings since the season began.  His usual line was simply giving up a run and inning.

Believe that Sports Illustrated did a background story on him last week.  He was a solid prospect coming out of high school but had depression issues, dropped out of baseball, traveled, took up eastern philosophy, worked at a ski lift operator and then returned to baseball when his brother started playing college ball.  Don't know how much of this stuff is hype but it makes for a good story.

Hawk is professionalism at its finest.

 

On a side note, as of June 27th, the Pittsburgh Pirates have the best record in baseball.  Technically they're tied with St. Louis, but still.

I find this blow up completely fascinating. Normally Hawk gets to scream at somebody, or the game ends. He can usually blame it on the umpire or yell at Ramirez, or cut to the end of the game, and rant and be done. But this one, it's his Golden Boy, Gordon Beckham, who Hawk claims is the best defensive second baseman in all of baseball that commits the error, so Hawk can't get mad at him. So he sits there and stews. And stews.

 

The man is psychotic. I mean that. Listen to him at the end of that clip. He's so mad he can't see straight. He can barely contain his anger.  It's so unprofessional that its comical. He's the announcer, and he's more upset than Robin Ventura.
