Wouldn't be shocked to see Beltran in right next year but unless the Cubs start winning regularly soon, I would be shocked to hear that Ricketts is planning to add $9 MM to this years salary and part with a legitimate prospect. The wild card is Hendry. Many believe he needs to be above 500 this year to renew his contract but without butts in the seats at Wrigley I just can't see Ricketts authorizing increasing 2011 payroll.

Exactly. If our arms were stellar, and he would literally put us over the top, maybe. But not now, as we're far from being one piece away.

I just read that. That guy is insane if he think they would give up McNutt in a package for Beltran. Beltran isn't going to put anyone over the top anyway.

There would be something kind of amusing about adding Beltran to the team now.

This is the crazy shit that shows up on the "official" message board and one of the main reasons I sought out this place. How in the world can a "journalist" put crap like this on the web?

Fuck that. Not happening. Beltran adds nothing to this team anyway. This isn't 2005.

Tribe place Sizemore on the DL (knee)
Should open up competition in the AL Central.

It would be amusing in the same way that watching your buddy get his hand stuck in a beehive after tripping over a dog, which caused him to step on a rake, the handle of which cracked his skull and toppled him over into a full oil pan is amusing.

Only if we got Zito to pitch too. Throw in Werth to be our other outfielder and we'll be an example of poor-spending for all.
