MLB News & Notes (other than Cubs or Sox)
I'd give him a shot if all it would cost is the minimum and provided that he is healthy.

I'm pretty sure he's toast.

I think he's at least worth a shot, especially for cheap.
The thing you need to remember is that all Cardinals fans and all White Sox fans are very bad people. It's a fact that has been scientifically proven beyond a shadow of a doubt. Being a Cubs fan is the only path to rightousness and piousness. Cardinal and White Sox fans exist to be the dark, diabolical forces that oppose us. They are the yin to our yang, the Joker to our Batman, the demon to our angel, the insurgence to our freedom, the oil to our water, the club to our baby seal. Their happiness occurs only in direct conflict with everything that is pure and good in this world.

As a lefty specialist making the minimum, it's worth a shot. It's not like we'd expect him to be a dominant closer again or anything close to that.

Speaking of B.J. Ryan, Scott Downs has turned into quite the reliever. I was only 12 when he was a Cub...was he highly regarded in our system?

He wasn't considered a "can't miss" prospect or anything, but he was pretty highly regarded in our system for a few years mainly because he was LH. I never thought he'd ever amount to anything.

One of the more impressive plays I've seen, by David Murphy (the last play):

I faced Scott Downs in high school. Struck out all three times. he was filthy. He's currently on the DL if I'm not mistaken.

That was a sick play, Giff

The behind the back flip was cool except for the fact the runner was safe and incorrectly called out.

Jeff Francoeur to the Mets for Ryan Church.

What a truly bizarre trade. Same division. Both in competition. Both players are outfielders. Why would the teams help each other with a change of scenery deal?

And Danks walked the first four guys of the game tonight for the Sox, all of which came around and scored.

Jonathan Sanchez just pitched a no hitter for the Giants.
This is not some silly theory that's unsupported and deserves being mocked by photos of Xena.  [Image: ITgoyeg.png]
