I don't miss Castro at all. At. All.

That has nothing to do with it. I don't want Castro back, but we got zip in return for him. That's the only thing I'm mad about. And I'm not convinced the Chapman trade would have fallen apart without Warren being included.

Someone explain to me how this guy could handle multiple roles in the so-called pressure cooker of NY and in the supposedly tougher AL East and not here. Bad luck? Elevated HR rate in a small sample size? I think he was just butthurt for being traded and never wanted to accept a new environment. Still pisses me off that we gave away Castro for essentially nothing.

 

You're drawing a lot of conclusions about a handful of appearances.  In his first 8 appearances as a Cub, Warren's line was:  9.0 IP, 0.00 ERA, .071 BAA, .259 OPSA.

Sure, but I'm also comparing to Warren's impressive longer track record with the Yankees and putting that into context relative to his post-trade comments/excuses about never feeling comfortable in Chicago.

I think Warren would have eventually been a very productive pitcher in a Cub uniform. I never put much stock in what players say in interviews.

Brewers outfielder Ryan Brauns suffered a left knee strain and a sprained ankle when he slid into the wall down the left field line at Wrigley Field while trying to get to a foul ball. He was able to walk off under his own power but he was limping. Figure Braun is heading to the DL.


Braun is hitting .325/.388/.566 with 22 home runs, 65 RBI, 13 stolen bases, and 61 runs scored in 98 games this season. There may have been a slight chance of someone making a waiver trade for him, but if that was even remotely possible, him hurting himself now would seem to put the ultimate kibosh on that.
