MLB News & Notes (other than Cubs or Sox)
So, more run production. The AL averaged .65 more runs per game last year (not factoring for interleague play).

Anything else good about it?

Quote:I don't know how this is possible, but the Padres have been around for 45 years.  Tonight, Jedd Gyorko became the franchise leader for career home runs by a second baseman with . . . 31.

Even more sad, and luckily we don't make the list.

Quote:[Jedd] Gyorkos 31 homers as a second baseman in his Padres career is a franchise record. Total. For any second basemans entire Padres career. Thats a sad record. But is it the saddest record? As in, whats the lowest total for a franchise leader at every position? With the help of Baseball-Reference.co we can find out C - Rays (Toby Hall, 44 home runs) and Pirates (Jason Kendall, 66).. 1B - Diamondbacks (Paul Goldschmidt, 82) and Angels (Wally Joyner, 116)... SS - Astros (Adam Everett, 35)... 3B - Brewers (Don Money, 78)... LF - Padres (Greg Vaughn, 72)... CF - Rangers (Don Lock, 71)... RF - Rays (Matt Joyce, 47) and Astros (Hunter Pence, 88)... DH - Twins (David Ortiz, 42) Oh. Oh, my. Thats much, much sadder than the Gyorko thing. Thats much, much, much sadder on several different levels. (Note: Jason Kubel also had 42 as a Twins DH, but Ortiz kinda needs to be in that header by himself for effect.)

Due to players playing multiple positions while with the Cubs, it's kind of hard to determine all time leaders by position.  Cubs.com has Dunston's 107 home runs as an outfielder.  I'm not entirely sure why that's the case, as he played a total of 41 innings (all in 1997) in the outfield for the Cubs.  Banks I can understand as a 1B, since he actually played more games at 1st than SS.  Billy Williams is just considered an OF, rather than a LF'er despite playing over 1700 of his 2000 games in left field.

Not really sure what logic MLB is using to determine position within these all-time leaders.  If you didn't know the team at all, you might assume Jose Hernandez is the all-time leader for Cubs SS.
I got nothin'.

I think those stats are maintained better elsewhere than MLB's website.  For example, Baseball Reference can break Dunston's HRs down by team and position.  I assume those are easily combined (i.e., how many while a SS for the Cubs).
This is not some silly theory that's unsupported and deserves being mocked by photos of Xena.  [Image: ITgoyeg.png]

Who doesn't care, Creighton?

I hope not, because if they win it will open up lawsuits for every Cardinal trademark, every wildcat trademark, etc. It's similar because they are both the same bird. Duh!

Does anyone care what goes on in Canada?

I saw this on Twitter yesterday.  This was Creighton's baseball jersey in the early 90s.  Pretty damn funny considering it includes the maple leaf.

Yes, that is all too real. I can't justify why they have the Maple leaf. A lot of maple trees in Nebraska?

Also, any guess on who the head coach was at Creighton that had a say in that "rip off" logo in the 80s?

That's right, our own Jim Hendry. You can't make this shit up.
