He could count all the cash he wants, but he's gonna be depressed after he blows dick when it matters. The Yankess are gong to regret giving him that contract.

Those usually work out really well.
See Hampton, Mike. See Zito, Barry.

Yeah, good call. I'm guessing he'll give them a couple good years until his arm starts to fall off. There's no way he can keep this pace up for seven.

I think they'll get about 3, maybe 4 decent to good years for them, but suck balls in the playoffs. Half of the contract will be a waste, but that's what you have to risk these days to attract the top talent.

Teams need to take the Hendry approach. Buy low, expect high and get high, i.e the signings of Lilly, Edmonds, and Johnson. Throwing out overpaid contracts doesn't work, i.e. Soriano, and like you guys said, Zito and Hampton.

Just saying, but the amount of Lilly's contract surprised a lot of people at the time.

I'd say there are more overpriced contracts that have worked out then haven't. That's the price you have to pay to get the best players to play for you. There's no way we would have got Soriano if we were offering 3 years or if we weren't willing to give him a NTC.

In my mind the Soriano contract has not worked out. And it will only get worse from here. Just saying.
