Knock it off, I'm having Rick Wilkins flashbacks.

Sorry, but after living through both Jerome Walton and Wilkins, and so many lesser prospects who had decent to good rookie seasons, I'll always have that fear. It isn't my biggest concern, but it's still there.

Blanco was a helluva mentor and Soto loved him. I hope Bako's the same way.

We haven't signed Bako and it's probably because Hendry wants to get something better if he can afford it. I actually think that's why Pudge would be good. Both he and Soto are Puerto Rican and I'm sure Soto has looked up to him.

Pudge wants to start, he'd be about the worst choice.

I have to agree. Pudge is a fat, washed up prick.

You really don't know that for a fact and Pudge may have to reassess his options if true. MLB Homeplate had a lengthy discussion on this subject today. Players like Pudge (and Griffey, Vizquel, etc) are gonna have to take reduced roles or retire. Vizquel just signed a minor league deal with the Rangers, sign of the times.

So is LoDuca and Bako has never been anything. We're talking about backup catchers. I'm not saying Pudge is awesome and would be great, I'm saying he's old and can't start.

What about Javier Valentin? There was some talk we were interested in him.
Bako does nothing for me, if that isn't obvious.

Yeah, I have to agree. The one requirement about your backup catcher should be that he is solid defensively.

I don't really recall Bako being all that impressive defensively.

I don't think anyone is clamoring for us to sign him either.
