The likelyhood of Peavy
<!--quoteo(post=39077:date=May 21 2009, 09:57 AM:name=Coldneck)-->QUOTE (Coldneck @ May 21 2009, 09:57 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->The Hoff, Fox, Soto and Shark for Gonzalez. I'd do that in a second. Lee can be a backup for all I care. If we traded him to SD we'd have to pay his entire salary anyway.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

We then leave the catching duties to the Bako and Hill? No thanks.

Having Adrian Gonzalez is not miraculously going to make this team better. We just aren't hitting right now. I would love to get him, but it isn't going to happen. Hendry is loyal to Lee and he isn't going to be moved. This team just needs to start hitting because right now we look like crap.

As for Peavy going to the White Sox, that will definitely help them. They need help in their rotation and they have just as much a chance to win that division as anyone. I would hate to see Peavy go to them.

I smell BS.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
It isn't a done deal, and it won't happen.

But I honestly wish it would. Peavy isn't going to save their season and it would be great if they unloaded their top prospects to get him.

I completely agree. This will be a bad trade if they give away a top prospect or 2 and then Peavy gets lit up in the AL.

I just brought it up because 2 of these guys high-fived each other right in front of me and were all giddy about it. It all sounded like BS to me.

Why do you think that? I understand that he is one of the best 1B in baseball...but do you think everyone else would start hitting if he was in the lineup?

Everyone else will start hitting because it's baseball, we've had two bad games after a great homestand. Shit averages out.

Gonzalez instantly makes us better because he's better than Lee.

You don't think adding one of the best hitters in baseball to our lineup would make us better?

Its never goign to happen, but he would make us a lot better.

I'm pissed beyond comprehension. Towers can suck my cock. When the Cubs were asking, it was Vitters, Marshall, Olson, Cedeno AND 2 more minor leaguers. Now the Sox are asking, and it's half of that.

this reminds me of when the Bulls were trying to get Garnett, and were being held up for the their entire team, then the Celtics ask, and the price becomes "whatever you have lying around will be fine".
I wish that I believed in Fate. I wish I didn't sleep so late. I used to be carried in the arms of cheerleaders.

It's also about when you ask.

If this does happens, the Sox still will not win the division. They also won't be able to add to an offense that is a lot worse then ours. In the long run, they will be worse because of it.

I will say one thing though. I am NOT now and never do count out the Sox. It pains me to say it, but they still have a good shot in their division, and their chances only improve with Peavy. And you know KW is partly doing this to upstage the Cubs, and will hog the media for the next few weeks.

That's why I hope it doesn't happen.

Northwest Herald says Linebrink talked to Peavy, said he thought the chance of Peavy accepting was 50/50

It would be rather awesome for Peavy to say No.

A few thoughts

-I agree that the White Sox would be using all of their chips, and have nothing left to get hitting, but the fact is, outside of Poreda, they don't have anything to give up. Yes, Flowers might be nice, but Richard is nothing. This is a no brainer for Williams if Beckham isn't involved.
-The Sox hitting almost has to get better. Ramirez can't be this bad, and someone will eventually step up at 2b/CF
-I'd rather Peavy go to the Sox than the Brewers or Cards
-Why would Peavy OK this deal? He doesn't want to go to the AL. He could wait until the trading deadline to see if the Yankees or Red Sox get involved. There is almost no reason for him to go to the Sox, unless he thinks adding him to the mix makes them serious contenders for the World Series.

I tend to agree. He was pretty adamant about finding the right situation in the offseason, and that's why the focus was on the Cubs so much even though we didn't have the prospects that SD wanted. At the end of the day, it doesn't make a lot of sense for Peavy to drop his NTC to go from one team that struggles to score runs to another that has similar struggles, yet he'll also need to learn a new league and have to deal with the DH. If this does indeed happen, it will be a head-scratcher.
