Well they're obviously going to add somebody like Aurilia. As for Harden, Marshall, Shark, Heilman, Gaudin, and Guzman can fill in for him. I'd just rather have another guy in the rotation that can eat innings. Even when Harden goes, he isn't going to average more than 5-6 innings so you need the other 4 guys to make up for that.

I guess you have a point... I'm just a little concerned about the lack of talent in our minors at this point. Ever remember a season when we haven't had to call someone up due to an injury? We've got very little help to count on in the position player department

exactly. the way our team is set, we have a current or recent all star at catcher, 1st, 3rd, left, and right. we have two in the rotation and our closer. thats 8 current or recent all stars. plus, both our 2nd basemen and our shortstop batted over .300. reed johnson was actually good last year, which i think some of you forgot. our #3 guy is all star calibre and our #4 is maybe the best #4 in baseball. our bullpen is solid.
and to boot, it's only january. even if we make no more moves by opening day, i guarantee we will at the break.

OK...so its obvious,to me at least , that this Peavy deal isn't gonna happen.Same way it was obvious last year that the Roberts trade wasnt gonna get done.Just call it another gut instinct or educated guess or whatthefuckever..........

Yeah and in our division, we can afford to come out of the gate slowly. It sounds like the rest of our division is done shopping for anything significant, and none of them appear to be over an 80-85 win team at the moment. If it's not working, we'll make a move. We'll also have the ownership situation solved by then and might have some more money to work with if necessary.

A herd of buffalo can move only as fast as the slowest buffalo. When the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members.
In much the same way the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, we all know, kills brain cells, but naturally it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers.
