The likelyhood of Peavy

But I tend to agree with you folks: we already have his twin (Harden) and two of those guys on the same staff are one too many.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

i agree totally, but if the peavy thing doesn't materialize, i'd pick him up for a year.

Needless to say, if we had Sheets (or Peavy) on the staff, and we went into October with everyone healthy, and Harden/Sheets firing on all cylinders, it'd be pretty imposing for another team go go up against.
There's nothing better than to realize that the good things about youth don't end with youth itself. It's a matter of realizing that life can be renewed every day you get out of bed without baggage. It's tough to get there, but it's better than the dark thoughts. -Lance

He's just really passionate.

For being needless to say he sure said it a lot.
If Angelo had picked McClellin, I would have been expecting to hear by training camp that kid has stage 4 cancer, is actually 5'2" 142 lbs, is a chick who played in a 7 - 0 defensive scheme who only rotated in on downs which were 3 and 34 yds + so is not expecting to play a down in the NFL until the sex change is complete and she puts on another 100 lbs. + but this is Emery's first pick so he'll get a pass with a bit of questioning. - 1060Ivy

A herd of buffalo can move only as fast as the slowest buffalo. When the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members.

In much the same way the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, we all know, kills brain cells, but naturally it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers.

Hope so. Still one of those situations that you just don't buy into until it happens.

Slows day so far but saw Miles said this in the comment section of his blog Miles' blog. The blog's a few days old now but he just left the comment this morning.

<!--quoteo-->QUOTE <!--quotec-->Ricketts has a long way to go, and therefore, so does any potential Peavy deal. First, Ricketts, must agree on a deal with Sam Zell. I'm sure Zell will try to squeeze Ricketts for more dough. That's why the other two groups have been told to "stand down."

Second, the bankruptcy court must approve. Finally, MLB must approve. That will be the easiest part, and it probably won't happen until close to Opening Day. That's probably the best chance of getting anything done "early" because no one is in position now to OK any extra expenditures.

Let's not forget about the Padres. They're the other part of this equation. Alderson is probably right in saying that the "easiest" shot at getting something done was at the winter meetings.

We're al looking at this from afar, so we don't know what's truly going on. So my answer to you would be that this is a later-rather-than-sooner deal.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

That first line by Miles was such a foolish rookie comment by someone who knows less than nothing about how business deals develop, I didn't even want to read the rest. But I did...

Maybe it's not such a bad thing if the trade gets delayed a bit into spring training... it'd be nice to see how Peavy's pitching in ST before the deal goes down. Who knows, he could even get hurt?

I thought so, but it has been reported that if he were traded, he'd skip the WBC this time.
