Pujols wants Manny
#16
<!--quoteo(post=14824:date=Jan 30 2009, 10:56 AM:name=Gad)-->QUOTE (Gad @ Jan 30 2009, 10:56 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->I'm sure Boras will jump at this idea... Who needs fair compensation when you have the chance to play in a great city!

<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <!--quotec-->Albert Pujols said Thursday that he speaks regularly with Manny Ramirez and the free agent recently told him, "No one wants to sign me."
"I'm not an agent or general manager, but I can't understand how Manny has not signed," Pujols said. <b>"Maybe St. Louis doesn't have the money to sign him, but he could give them a discount because St. Louis is a great city that supports its players."</b><!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Boras: My client gets $25 mil a year for three years, not a penny less.
Cardinals GM: But...but...Mr. Boras, St. Louis is such a great town!
Narrator: Just then, Boras' heart, which had been three sizes too small grew three sizes too big!
Boras: <a single tear trickles down his cheek> You know...I think maybe I've lost sight of why I became an agent in the first place. It's not about my clients the biggest contracts possible! It's about helping great players play in great cities...cities with great people.

wow...an invisible racist ghost.

jk...HTC is no racist...just invisible.
A herd of buffalo can move only as fast as the slowest buffalo. When the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members.

In much the same way the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, we all know, kills brain cells, but naturally it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers.

Pujols is so damn retarded. If baseball had nothing to do where he plays...WHY would Manny choose muggy, drab St. Louis over Hollywood?
What a dumbass suggestion. If Pujols had a brain and some balls, he'd adjust his contract to open funds for Manny like Larry Fitzgerald wants to do for Anquan Boldin, <b><i>that's</i></b> what team players/captains do.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Pretty sure the MLB players union won't allow a player to adjust his contract to lessen the amount received, unlike the NFL.

Maybe he was saying that he could defer a portion of his salary for a couple of years (or for however long Manny signs) so they could afford him. Of course, that would make his salary ginormous at the end of his contract. As long as he's getting paid the same amount, would the players union care?

Probably. I was just saying that if he wants him so bad, he should think about taking one for the team since he's courting Manny himself.

Plus, Manny will never work in STL. Tony wouldn't take it.
